Terms of Use

Welcome to Scout's Storybook, a family storytelling app published by Scout with Heart ("we," "us," or "our"). These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and us governing your use of the app. Please read them carefully. By creating an account or using Scout's Storybook, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. Who can use Scout's Storybook 

Scout's Storybook is made for children but managed by adults. Accounts must be created by a parent, guardian, or other responsible adult (at least the age of majority where you live, and never younger than 13). Children use the app under the supervision of that adult. By creating an account, you confirm you are an eligible adult and that you are responsible for any child who uses the app through your family.

2. This app is for kids — keep it kind and safe 

Scout's Storybook is a children's app. You agree to use it only to create warm, age-appropriate stories and content. The following are strictly prohibited: inappropriate, profane, hateful, harassing, violent, or sexual language or content; any content that sexualizes, exploits, endangers, or is harmful to a child; using the app to bully, threaten, or abuse any person; and attempting to bypass the app's safety features. Inappropriate language and content will be blocked or removed. Any adult who uses the app to enter inappropriate or sexual content, or who otherwise misuses the app in a way that could harm a child, may be permanently banned from the app. Unlawful content — including any content involving the sexual exploitation of a minor — may be reported to the proper authorities as required or permitted by law.

3. Adult supervision and responsibility 

Scout's Storybook provides safety tools, but it is and remains the adult's job to monitor the stories and content created in the app and to ensure they are appropriate for their child. You are responsible for supervising your child's use of the app. To help, the app flags potentially concerning content for the adult to review — including content that may relate to self-harm or suicide, injury or violence, sexual content, bullying, abuse, or similar serious topics. These flags are a helpful aid only. They are not guaranteed to catch everything, are not professional advice, and are not a crisis, emergency, or monitoring service. They do not replace your supervision. If you believe a child is in danger or in crisis, contact your local emergency services or an appropriate professional immediately.

4. AI-generated content 

Stories and illustrations in Scout's Storybook are generated automatically using artificial intelligence. AI can make mistakes and may occasionally produce content that is inaccurate, unexpected, or not to your liking. Always review AI-generated stories and pictures before sharing them with a child or other family members. You are responsible for the content you create, save, and share.

5. Your content 

You and your family own the stories, drawings, characters, and recordings you create. By using the app, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display that content solely to operate the app for you (for example, to save your stories and share them with the family members you connect). We do not claim ownership of your family's creations and we do not sell them.

6. Subscriptions, free trial, and payments 

Scout's Storybook may offer premium features through a free trial followed by an auto-renewing subscription. After any free trial or current billing period, a paid subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the period. Payment is charged to your Apple or Google account. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Prices are shown in the app before purchase and may vary by region.

7. Acceptable use 

You agree not to: misuse, disrupt, reverse-engineer, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the app; use it for any unlawful purpose; or use it in any way that violates these Terms. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

8. Disclaimers 

The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated content or safety flags will be accurate or complete.

9. Limitation of liability 

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

10. Termination 

We may suspend or terminate your access to the app at any time, including for violations of these Terms (such as the prohibited conduct in Section 2). You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time.

11. Changes to these Terms 

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
